My teaser:

The new guy had dark hair cut Superman style, a deep tan, and teeth so white they should’ve come with a warning label: DO NOT STARE DIRECTLY AT TEETH.  PERMANENT BLINDNESS MAY OCCUR.  He wore a Dallas Cowboys jersey, Western jeans and boots, and he smiled like he was God’s gift to juvenile delinquent girls everywhere.

~The Lost Hero (Heroes of Olympus, Bk 1) by Rick Riordan, page 8

I really like this book so far!

My teaser:

Far out on the horizon, a clipper ship skated the ocean, its high sail unfurled.  Nailer paused in his collections and watched as it carved across the blue water.  So close, and yet so far.

My teaser:

This is a love story.  I never knew there were so many kinds of love or that love could make people do so many different things.

~Linger by Maggie Stiefvater, page 2

I haven’t actually started reading yet, so I had to pick something from the prologue.  Of course, now I want to keep reading and not put my book back in my purse until lunch time!  I almost took a picture of my teaser because the ink is green and it’s so pretty!

My teaser:

As wonderful as it was to have the Doctor active in our universe again, this incarnation was traumatic on a personal level. To my complete horror in the final episode of the series, “The Parting of Ways,” the Daleks back my baby brother into a corner and kill him.  Bam!  Just like that.  I was gobsmacked.

~ Chicks Dig Time Lords: A Celebration of Doctor Who by the Women Who Love It edited by Lynne M. Thomas and Tara O’Shea page 20 (From the essay by Carole E. Barrowman)

My teaser:

Tiny thinks I am incapable of what humans call emotion because I have not cried since my seventh birthday, when I saw the movie All Dogs Go to Heaven.  I suppose I should have know from the title that it wouldn’t end merrily, but in my defense, I was seven.

~ Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan

I just started, but I really like this book so far!

Teaser Tuesday 3/16/10

My teaser:

I’m talking about sex a lot.  That means I’ll start writing soon.

~Doctor Who: The Writer’s Tale (The Final Chapter) by Russell T Davies and Benjamin Cook, page 101

Rather random, huh?  This book is long, but I’ve enjoyed it.  I’ve made it my goal to finish it before I leave for Florida on Friday.  (Braves Spring Training, woo!) I have about 150 pages left – that’s doable, though I am busy tonight and tomorrow and need to pack on Thursday.  I’m ready to move on to books that don’t make my shoulder hurt when I carry them around in my purse.

My teaser:

It’s when you start noticing these subtleties of the game that you realize baseball is actually a series of games within a game.  It’s like the game grows within itself.  The events are interconnected, and as you become aware of them all, the game pulls you deeper.

~Safe At Home by Alyssa Milano

I cheated – it’s three sentences instead of two, but it’s a cool quote from someone that “gets” baseball the way I do!

eta: I forgot to do In My Mailbox this weekend.  Between my grandparents’ 65th(!) anniversary dinner, football playoffs, reading, and my current obsession, Doctor Who, it slipped my mind.  I’ll do a two week one this week!

Most kids wake up early on Saturday to watch cartoons, but not me.  The only reason I get out of bed at all on weekends is because eventually, I can’t stand the taste of my own breathe anymore.

~ Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney, pg 16

I can totally relate!  My dog disagrees, but sometimes he lets me sleep late. :)

My teaser:

There’s that space between sleep and dreaming where things – not quite dreams, not fully fledged precognition, but weird little blends of both – sometimes get in.  Your eyes open, slow and dreamy, when the sense of someone looking rises through the cotton-wool fog of being warm and tired.

~Strange Angels by Lili St. Crow, page 1

I haven’t actually started the book yet, so I didn’t want to spoil myself. :)
